Crews of professionals and volunteers worked diligently side-by-side throughout the day last Friday and Saturday, Jan. 12-13, to complete the fist ice harvest that Detroit Lake had seen in almost 50 years. In all, a little over 1,100 blocks — each weighing about 900 pounds each — were harvested for construction of 'King Isbit's Ice Palace,' which starts today. (Vicki Gerdes / Tribune)
